The Monthly MOT

On this page you will find, what a Monthly MOT is, and what to expect in the appointments, and what happens after.

What is
the M.MOT

The Monthly MOT is a service that involves general soft tissue techniques and the general osteopathic technique. It aims to keeping you in the best shape possible for your hobbies, by increasing joint motion, and loosening the muscles around them.

This service is recommended to help prevent injury and the return of previous injuries. It is not a service to treat a specific injury.

Service comes in many forms based on different habits and hobbies

- Runners MOT: Looking at the legs, and lower back

- General MOT: Looking at the neck, back, shoulders, chest, and legs

- Back MOT: Looking at the neck, and back down to the hamstrings

- Desk Worker MOT: Shoulders, upper back, and gluteal region

- Headache MOT: Head, face, shoulders, and upper back

M.MOT Services

Monthly MOT  60 minutes

   Time: 60 Minutes

   Price: £55

Monthly MOT 30 minutes

   Time: 30 minutes

   Price: £35

The only difference in the first appointment is that we will take a quick case history and overview of the medical history, to check for anything major such as surgeries, medications, or chronic illnesses.

Please note that we recommend 60 minutes to get through everything. In the 30 minute appointments, we won't have time to do everything so we will most likely only focus on a certain muscle group.

What to
expect

Prior to Appointments

The only thing that needs to be done prior to the appointment is to ensure that you have appropriate clothing when coming to the appointment.

At the Appointment

At the your first appointment we will discuss what you are coming in for and what area you would like worked on. We will do a case history of previous injuries, and medical history. This will be followed by a brief assessment to ensure the stiffness or tightness is not due to anything else such as posture and then treatment can begin

Treatment will include soft tissue techniques to relieve muscle tension in addition to some generic joint motion to reduce any reduction in range and ensure both sides are in working order.

Following treatment we may also provide some stretches and advice in order to reduce the stiffness or tightness in the long term.

After the Appointment

There may be some pain following the treatment due to the muscles being moved and 'poked' however this should wear off within 24 hours. It should be helped by heat and stretching.

F.A.Q.s

Can this be used after Osteopathy?

We recommend that if you have a long-term injury once it is at a point where only maintenance is required you can switch to Monthly MOT instead

Does it need to be every month ?

You don't have to come in every month it is simply in the name, but we don't recommend longer that 2 months between appointments if wanting to keep on top of muscle tightness and prevent injury.
